Eleven Facts About Our Valentine’s Day

#1 We went out to eat at Applebee’s, so I didn’t stress out about cooking a fancy, romantic meal.

#2 I skipped the cheese and got Scott something he would like; a steering wheel cover, new shirt and Ghirardelli chocolates.

#3 Scott loved the card I made him. It read, “I know you aren’t for cheesy stuff so I will make it short and sweet: I love you more than all the dots on this page times infinity plus one”.

#4 Mavo got to celebrate his very first Valentine’s day! He got a stuffed animal and a box of chocolates(He really enjoyed them).IMG_4093

#5 Lincoln got a lion and didn’t like it so he traded it for Maverick’s tiger.

#6 I got FLOWERS! The third time since I have been with Scott (7 years) and I was very happy! Oh and a bag of peanut m&ms, my favorite candy!

#7 Lincoln made Scott a Valentine and it said the words “Love” and “Dad”. He wrote it all by himself!

When Scott got home, I said, “Lincoln go get your valentine and give it to dad”.

Lincoln whined, “No, that is mine”

I tried to get him to give it to Scott, “Lincoln, Valentine’s day is to let people know how much you love them.”

Lincoln explained, “I made myself a Valentine because I love Lincoln”.

“But it says you love dad”

He pointed at the words, “It says ‘I love Lincoln’ because I love myself. I LOVE MYSELF!”

#8 It was by far my favorite Valentine’s Day I have had in my 25 years.

#9 I had three different boys on Valentine’s Day

#10 We ended the night with “The Dark Knight Rises”. My special treat to Scott because I do not like Batman and he has been wanting to watch it again. Turns out I liked it a lot!

#11 I got a box of Florence Chocolates mailed all the way from Idaho from my mom. These are my favorite chocolates IN THE WORLD! YUMMMMMMMMY!!! That is seriously all I wanted for Valentine’s day! She sent Mav and Lincoln Valentine’s too. Lincoln was so excited grandma Jones sent him a treat!

Life is Good

Today I was playing “Transformers” with Lincoln and Maverick and I couldn’t help but think, “Man, I never thought pretending to be Bumblebee and rolling around on the ground could be so perfect”.

The thing is, life is good.

Life is good for all of us. This is exactly where we want to be in life and who we want to be there with. I haven’t been blogging as much as I would like so I thought I would do a quick update on each special member of our family.

Heather:

My job is “mom” and I LOVE it, not just love it but I like it, I enjoy it and I will hopefully never go back to work. I have the greatest friends in the world, that bring us soup when we’re sick, invite us over and I get to spend every Thursday night watching “Downtown Abbey” with them. I also am trying to redecorate the house. Red is no longer in style and I was getting tired of trying to decorate with it. It is SO dark and I love the new bright and happy colors. Here is a little of what I have done (I have more to do, but we are moving so I am going to hold off).

The before:IMG_3978 IMG_3980

The picture on the wall is one my great-grandma painted and I painted around it a new color.IMG_4047

The after:IMG_4137

See the blue around her picture? SO CUTE!IMG_4146 IMG_4145

It looks way better in real life too, but you get the idea :)

Scott has been working hard and has just turned in his paperwork to move up from a level 1 to a level 2. This is HUGE and will definitely help our sad bank account out. The average time people move up is 18 months and Scott is doing it in ten. I am SO proud of him and how hard he works for our little family.IMG_3996

Lincoln has recently developed color super powers! This is very good news indeed. His blue super power, “makes the clouds go away and makes it sunny and 89”. When he told me he didn’t need to wear a coat and I asked why, he explained, “My purple and pink super powers keep me warm. They are beautiful colors”. His super powers also make him do naughty things like smash an entire chap stick in his hands and spill his food on the ground.

Maverick is growing hair and this is kind of a big deal.IMG_4143

Well that is it for now! I have lots to blog about, including our Valentine’s Day and our big little move happening in two months!

I am Basically the Best Mom Ever…

A few weeks ago, I made gak with Lincoln. When Scott got home, we excitedly showed him our creation. Caught up in the excitement of it all, I thought it would be a really good idea to stick it all on Maverick’s partially bald head. He literally had no reaction at all and we laughed a little until this solid/liquid began running down his head, getting a little close to his eyes.

No problem, I will just pull it off his head. Except when I went to lift it off his head, his entire head lifted up with the gak. I guess he wasn’t bald enough. I began to panic.

Oh my gosh! It is stuck in his hair and running down his face and there is nothing I can do!

I began to break off pieces quickly and got most of it off before it reached his eyes.

Scott’s response “You basically just stuck glue on his head. Awesome”.

The rest of it would not come off because it was too glued to his head and hair and I didn’t want to hurt him.

I tried to rub it out with baby oil, but it didn’t work.IMG_3982 Look how happy he is? He thinks I am the best mom ever, I can tell.IMG_3983 IMG_3985

Then I gave him a bath and it all washed out fairly easy without him losing more than a few hairs. I know it is pretty common to have gak get in your babies hair, so now you know how to get it out!

P.S I updated Maverick turning seven months on the post before this. Two in one day! Woot, woot!

Maverick is Seven Months Old

Eats/ Sleeps:

For two weeks he started waking up every two hours a night to eat. I thought it was because he had gotten off schedule from vacation and the flu, but after letting him cry it out, we quickly figured out he was starving to death! I just wasn’t producing enough milk. Poor baby! So he nurses the same during the day AND eats 12 ounces of food (rice cereal, applesauce, bananas, peas and carrots) a day! He sleeps 12 hours a night and 2-3 naps during the day depending on if we are out and about.

Wears:

  • 3-6 Month clothes except pajamas are too small
  • 6-9 Month Pajamas and onsies, pants and shirts are too big.
  • Size 3 diapers

Hates/ Dislikes;

Loud noises: Oh my goodness is this baby scared of the vacuum! It is so weird because he use to just sit there and stare at it in awe. Now whenever I vacuum, he gets so scared he sits there and shakes while screaming bloody murder. I always try to vacuum 2-3 times a week, but lately I feel like it is child abuse, so limit it to once. He also hates the blender, beater and bathroom fans.

Nicknames:

  • Mav
  • Mavo
  • Monster Man
  • Lil Fella

Milestones:

Maverick has hit some major milestones this month!

  • Sits up at six months: This took him forever to do and still he is not that great because he wants to crawl!
  • Sits up on his own at six months: He literally learned to sit up on his own from the crawling position at the same time he learned to just sit.
  • Crawling: He started trying to crawl at six months, but would only do a hand or two. Within two weeks he mastered it and crawls all over the house.
  • He started climbing up furniture and thinks it is hilarious! The first time he really did it, he was laughing hysterically and when he stood up he was so excited he fell flat on his back.

Extra:

Maverick always crosses his feet and has since the day he was born(I can’t believe I haven’t written it). When he started crawling his legs kept getting in the way because his feet were always crossed. IMG_4071

He doesn’t grab and hold his feet. Lincoln always had his feet in his hands, so it is weird to me. He is incredibly inflexible!

Learned to crawl before he mastered sitting up, so I missed that whole stage where they just sit there and play.IMG_4141

Here is a video of him I took a few weeks ago when he was first learning to crawl. I LOVE the first time they start crawling because it is so awkward!

Gets into everything! His favorite thing to do is take out all the dvds.IMG_4014 IMG_4012We had to put the crib rail up all the way since he tries to escape. He also got a bruise on his eye from smashing his face against the rail.

IMG_4079 IMG_4075 IMG_4076 Always sticking out his tongue and blowing spit. He has Scott’s genes because he already can curl his tongue and Lincoln and I cannot.IMG_4077 “Hmmmmmmm, I wonder how far down that is?”IMG_4078

He doesn’t cry very much at all, instead he growls really loud. Like REALLY loud until he gets what he wants. In church he sits there making SO much noise, that even though he isn’t crying we have to take him out because he sounds like he is going to kill someone or he is pushing out a really hard terd (my mom is going to sigh at that one haha). I suppose it is better than crying, but only slightly.IMG_4156 IMG_4154

Maverick loves Lincoln and every month they grow closer together. The other night Scott was throwing them on the bed and Lincoln was laughing his crazy laugh while getting knocked repeatedly down by a pillow, and Mav was of course growling in-between laughs and getting flipped all over the place. As this was all going on, I joined in on the wrestling match and Scott said, “And you wanted girls?”. Having two boys is such an adventure and Mav is already crazy and loves wrestling and playing hard. I can’t imagine a better way to spend my night than wrestling with all three of my boys.

I snapped some pictures of my boys taking a bath together. I’m not gonna lie, it makes me tear up a little seeing how much they love each other.IMG_4128

Giving Mav baths is torture. He won’t stay still for half a second, and now takes bath on his stomach while crawling and attempting to climb everywhere. IMG_4136

I love you Monster Man!IMG_4011
