Marriage and Baby Fish

On the drive home from the movie "Big Hero 6," which I might add was amazing and all four of us loved it, Lincoln shared with us the inside scoop on fish.

Lincoln: Guess how old fish have to be to become dads?

Me: How old?

Lincoln: Five.

Me: Oh wow! They start young, and how old is your fish?

Lincoln: He's seven.

Me: When is he going to have a baby?

Lincoln: He can't poop out a baby cause he's a boy.

Me: Well that makes sense. What if we get him a girl fish, can he be a dad then?

Lincoln: Well he would have to get married first.

Me: Of course

Lincoln: Yes, but to get married, an honor fish has to come to do the wedding, and then we would need to invite a bunch of fish fans. And the wedding would need to be in a wedding place.

Me: Alright, so let me get this straight. In order to get a baby, you need an honor fish to marry the fish, and fans will need to be there to watch. Is that right?

Lincoln: Yes, and then they can get a baby.

Me: So then the girl fish has a baby fish?

Lincoln: No that's disgusting; pooping a baby out in the water is gross.

Me: Well then where do baby fish come from?

Lincoln: They start out really, really small.

Me: And then what?

Lincoln: And then you buy it from the store.

And that's how baby fish are born!

Floors and Worms

A few months ago we bought new dark flooring for our home to cover up the oak wood. I absolutely love it, but it took forever to finish it all. Scott cut all the pieces and laid them down, and I removed the trim, laid down the plastic, cleaned the floors, and helped put the pieces in place. It was tons of work, but the end result was stunning, and I am in love!

To help the process go smoother, I took the kids upstairs out of the way, so Scott could work hard without any distractions. To keep us entertained, I called over the neighbors. That's when I decided to make dirt and worms! It is something I do every year with the kids before Halloween, and every year I eat way too much pudding and gummy worms. The boys loved it, and this year was extra fun with our new friends around for the mess.

I suppose I should add some pictures of our new floors, but if you look closely in our pictures you can them. A before and after is definitely in the making.

Darth Vader

Our trip to Disneyland was a blast, but I don't believe I will be posting about every detail on here. I simply don't have the patience..... or time. But the highlight of our trip was when Lincoln fought Darth Vader. I was so nervous he wouldn't get selected amongst all the jumping kids, but alas he got chosen and our entire family started screaming with excitement. I don't think anyone wanted it as badly as me! Lincoln was thrilled! He walked up on stage and melted the audience with his undeniable cuteness. They gave them each a light saber and began the Jedi training. Too cute! Lincoln struggled to release his saber, and he had the entire audience laughing. When it came time to fight Darth Vader, Lincoln stood proudly with his light saber, but could not get it open. The guy training them was amazing, and gave Lincoln his light saber to use. And then Lincoln fought him proudly! He received a training certificate that is now wrapped neatly in the cupboard. The entire show had Scott and I smiling, screaming, and laughing. It was a moment I know Lincoln will never forget, and it is the very reason I took my kids to Disneyland at such a young age; the memories we make start by enjoying life at all ages. After the show, we headed on over to a Star Wars souvenir shop and all the boys got light sabers. It was the perfect thing to bring home. It is the only part of our vacation that I want Lincoln to remember.

Summer

Alright folks, this is the super-fast version of our summer! I am sure I missed a million things, but I stopped taking my camera with me as a way to truly live in the moment. So here is what I have from both Scott and my cellphones!

Went white water rafting in level 5 waves.....twice!

Got Lincoln's heart murmur checked out....he is doing great!

Went boating a ridiculous amount of times. Somewhere around 35-45 times. Actually I have No idea.

Squished some bugs in the nude

We all did some dirt biking. I haven't dirt biked in years, so it was fun to ride again.

Did his first pinewood derby with mom

Went to the drive-in with cousins

Slept in a tent and a playhouse: I got stuck with all the grandkids. It was a blast!

Caught his first fish

Went to an amusement park

Went on lots of picnics and bike rides to the lake

Celebrated the fourth

Maverick turned two

Went to Idaho
Had visits from grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins
Went to the lake and beach

Went to Seattle and stuck some gum on the gum wall....yuck!

Played in the sprinklers til we froze

Went hiking a few times

Finally got Scott off the tube with my mad driving skills
and celebrated the start of the school year! Summer was an exhausting blast, and I am always sad to see it go, but it's nice to have some time on my hands. Maybe now I can start blogging again? Heck, I've already done two posts this week! I hope next summer is half as good as this years was.
