Two

Sometimes I worry about my son. I mean he IS already 2 1/2 and he still can't read. It seems like the only thing he is interested in is cars and toys. Which is just NOT acceptable (insert sarcasm).

Last night, while I was reading him his bedtime story, I kept asking him the colors of the trucks.
"What color is this truck?" I asked.

"Yellow green" he said.

"No it is red. What color is this truck?" I asked again.

"Yellow green," he said.

"No it is blue. What about this truck? If you can guess the right color you don't have to go to bed!" I bribed.

"Yellow green" he smiled.

"Ugh! It is blue again! Well how old are you?" I knew he could get this one.

He looked at me blankly.

I held up two fingers, "Are you this many?" I probed.

"Peace!" he said.

Well at least he will be cool in school.

Charlie is the same way, he didn't really know his colors until he was almost 3 and when we went to the Dr for his 3 year old appointment the doctor asked him how old he was and he said 4. Even after working with him for a while he still doesn't always say that he is 3. He is more interested in motorbikes, airplanes, and dirt than letters, numbers, and stuff like that. I think every kid does it in their own time. Don't worry, at least he knows the sign for peace :)

One thing that I realize about kids most of what they know is what you teach them. Cohen knows he is two and his last name is Iverson because we taught him that. Lincoln knows the sign for peace because you taught him. Its funny you posted this because this morning I was doing some color and shape games with the boys. Lincoln thought it was great. He is eager to learn. And although he might not read yet he is one smart little bugger! He out smarts me on a daily basis.
