Halloween Ceramics

We made Halloween ceramics in Jell-O molds and then painted them. They loved kneading the dough and pushing it in the molds. We didn’t paint them until the next day, so it was the perfect craft for two days of fun!

Recipe:

1/2 cup of salt

1/2 cup of flour

1/4 cup of water

Add water slowly and roll together with hands until soft dough is formed. It almost feels like play dough.

Then bake in the oven at 200 degrees for three hours.

We made eight, so they each painted four.IMG_1898

Hates:

  • 6:00-7:30 is his grumpy time unless we are outside or going for walks.

Milestones:

  • Started laughing: On September 30 he gave us his first laugh. We were in church and Scott was smiling at him as he sat in his car seat. Then Scott would rock his seat and kind of bounce him. He was talking and talking and smiling bigger and bigger and I KNEW that a laugh was coming soon. And sure enough he started laughing. It was incredibly cute and all three of us (Scott, me and Lincoln) were laughing and smiling and being overly noisy right in the middle of church. But we didn’t care because it was SO CUTE!
  • Rolled over: He rolled over for “real” on October 5th, just one week before he turned three months. I put him to take his nap on his tummy and when I went to get him, he was laying on his back. He has been trying for a couple of weeks so I knew it was any day!

Sleeps:

  • Sleeps through the night! Yay!
  • At 9 weeks(Barely two months) he started doing eight hours straight and at 10 weeks he started doing 9-10 hours straight.
  • Takes three 1-2 hour naps during the day and one cat nap at night before bed.
  • Wakes up at 8:00 and goes to bed at 7:30. Sleeps between 17-19 hours a day.

Wears:

  • Size Two Diapers
  • 0-3 Month clothes. I put his newborn clothes away at 11 weeks.
  • 3-6 month clothes but they are really big on him.

Nicknames:

  • Mavo (Lincoln)
  • Mav (Everyone)
  • Chub-Chubbs (Mom and Dad)
  • Lil-Fella (Dad and Lincoln)

Firsts:

First laugh! He smiles now  whenever we look at him or go to pick him up. He is an extremely happy baby.IMG_1676 IMG_1682 First bath with LincolnIMG_1721 IMG_1718 IMG_1719 First time riding in the hiking carrier. I think he looks like an adorable little monkey.IMG_1666

Maverick is always so full of smiles and loves to snuggle with mommy when he is sad but daddy is his favorite to smile at. He is already very interested in the world around him and it makes it difficult to feed him because he is easily distracted. He is content with laying in his bouncer, but being held or pushed in the stroller keeps him continually happy. Even though he is an infant, he is way easier than Lincoln. I want him to stay little because newborns are SO easy for me!

Pooping everywhere is still a regular thrill for him.

Sometimes I look over at him and think, “Wow! I have two kids! You are my baby!” but mostly I look at him and think, “You have only been with us for three months?”.

There is no doubt in my mind that Maverick is suppose to be apart of our family. His strong, sweet spirit is always reminding me of how blessed our little family is.

Vinegar and Baking Soda

We play with vinegar and baking soda more than the average human should. According to Pinterest, haha, it basically is good for cleaning EVERYTHING! I use it in my laundry, in the bath tub and we put it in the drain all the time.

I am guilty of using it mainly to watch the bubbly reaction, but hey, it is totally cleaning too!

We added some food coloring to the vinegar, dumped the baking soda on a cookie sheet and then used medicine droppers to drop the colorful vinegar.IMG_1466 IMG_1467 IMG_1471IMG_1469

Doesn’t that look fun? Lincoln loved it!

Lincoln is 3 1/2

This is really long, but Scott and I wanted to write down everything we could think of, so we can always remember our 3 1/2 year-old Lincoln and what he was really like. He has been our little angel over these past few years and I wish I had written down more about him! One day he will read this, laugh and be so happy that we actually wrote it down!

Fun Facts About Lincoln

  • He learned all of his letters A-Z and their sounds in three months and the last 13 letters in a week. He won’t learn until he wants to or is interested, but when he wants to, he learns fast. It took him for-ev-er to learn his colors and then one day he decided he wanted to know them and he knew them all.
  • He is the most stubborn child I have ever met. He will go into timeout ten times over and still not break. If he has his mind set, there is no changing it. We usually have to find middle ground to get around his stubbornness.
  • He is very well-behaved. He never makes messes, besides with his toys, and has never broken anything on purpose. He has always understood right and wrong and just doesn’t do things that he knows he will get in trouble for.
  • He is a rule follower. We have rules and he sticks to them. When friends come over he makes sure they follow the rules too, which is always awkward.
  • He is bossy. He loves to play with friends but he wants them to play what he wants to and how he wants to.
  • He has a big imagination. He is always pretending to be someone. I would say “pretend” is his favorite thing to play.
  • He likes to tell stories and tall-tales. If he has a bruise or scratch he will make up an awesome story about how he was run over by a truck and then Optimus Prime saved the day.
  • Soft-Spirit. He hates getting into trouble and whenever he does something wrong he starts saying sorry and will even cry occasionally. He is very good at self-punishing, which is nice for us.
  • He can be really, really whiney and talks in this high-pitch baby voice. It’s probably what drives us most insane, but we still love him.
  • He is a sweet talker. Oh boy, he can work over anyone with his sweet words. He will tell you how pretty and nice you are. He will say you are his best friend and then give you a big hug and ask for kisses. He knows how to get what he wants.
  • He gets SO excited over getting a “yes” to his question and will starting hugging your leg, laughing and giving you lots of kisses.
  • He gives the best thank-you’s in the whole world.

Our favorite things Lincoln says:

  • I saved the day
  • Mommy you are so beautiful. Maybe you can wear your princess dress too?
  • Daddy is SOOOOOO mean to me. (or about anyone being mean)
  • This lil fella is soooooo cute (talking about Maverick)
  • Do you want to be my little kid? (Asking me or Scott when talking about how tall he is)
  • Can I be loud? (Anytime he wants to shoot his gun)
  • I slept two days (Whenever he wakes up)
  • Best.Friends! (When he hugs mom)
  • Peace out! Love ya! You’re my best friend! See ya later! I will miss you! Love ya! Bye! Peace! (Whenever me or dad leave he yells as much as he can until we are gone).
  • I love to laugh
  • You are ruining my life (When we tell him no)
  • Hey guys, I’m back (when he comes into the room and was gone for like 30 seconds).
  • White keester (And he pulls down his pants a couple of inches to show us his white butt)
